Copper is a potent, naturally occurring biocide; toxic to both invertebrates and bacteria. Using a copper anti-fouling screen effectively reduces the amount of biological material that builds upon the probe. The Anti-Fouling screen lasts ~ 6 months in seawater and ~one year in freshwater.
